Peter's Case — Criminal Harassment — Police Report Client: Peter C., Accused Police Report: On Sunday, October 24, 2004, the accused was observed by a witness at the Stone Road Mall covered parking lot at approximately 1:15 p.m. located at 435 Stoneycreek Road West in Guelph. The accused was observed by a witness scratching a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero bearing Ontario RTM 385 leased by the victim. The accused scratched the vehicle along the passenger side front and rear doors as well as on the right side of the vehicle hood causing approximately $4000 in damage. The accused and the witness locked eyes and the accused mumbled something and walked away from the vehicle. The witness got into his vehicle and observed a red Honda Accord registered to the accused. The witness followed the accused in his vehicle and contacted 911. The witness followed the accused onto Scottsdale Drive and continued to follow him onto College Avenue past the University of Guelph. The witness drove past the vehicle to ensure it was the same male who had damaged the vehicle, all the while relaying information to the Guelph Police dispatch. Units were dispatched in the area and attempted to locate the accused. The victim has known the accused for approximately six years. They were involved in a common law relationship and have been separated for approximately two years. They do not have any children together. The accused is currently charged with criminal harassment (2x), in relation to the victim. The victim is very afraid of the accused and the fact that he may still be following her and know where she lives. The accused was stopped and arrested at approximately 1:38 p.m. The vehicle was searched by police and a cylinder shaped sliver metal tool approximately five inches long with a three quarter inch spiked tip found under the driver's side seat. The tool was seized by police and held for evidence. Through subsequent investigation, officers learned the accused is currently bound by a Recognizance of Bail entered on September 13th, 2004 in the City of Milton. One of the said conditions being to keep peace and be of good behaviour. The accused was subsequently arrested and charged with mischief under $5000 and breach recognizance. The accused was given his caution and rights to counsel. The accused was transported to the station where he was afforded the right to speak with duty counsel and held for a bail hearing. |
