patty's Case — Possession firearms — Police Report

Complainant:  Toronto Police Service, 51 Division

Charges:  unauthorized possession of a firearm (2x), possession weapons dangerous, carry concealed weapon, and possession of ammunition for a dangerous purpose

Police Report:  Friday, 22 October 2004, Rear Laneway of 87 Pinball Street, 1532HRS:

On the above date and time, officers responded to a radio call in the rear lane way of 87 Pinball Street, regarding a female who was in possession of a shotgun. Upon arriving on scene the accused was located, and immediately arrested. The accused was found in possession of a 22 calibre revolver, a shotgun, along with an excess of 500 rounds of ammunition. The accused was transported to 51 Division for further investigation.

While being paraded for the above charges, officers received further information from New York State Police, that the above accused is wanted under their Mental Health Act as well for a Hostage-Taking investigation. The accused was recently released from a hospital in New York City after an attempt on her own life. The accused after her release took her mother and her sister hostage, threatened both their lives, as well as her own, while in possession of both firearms. The accused stole her mother's motor vehicle, fled the state after releasing both victims, and entered into Canada from the State border. Even though the accused person and vehicle were on file for the aforementioned information, the accused was able to enter while in possession of the firearms.

The New York State Police are currently seeking a warrant for the above offences. Once obtained, immigration will be returning the accused to answer to the charges.

The accused was held pending a show-cause hearing.
