S., Accused Police Report: The victim, Susie Q., is a 39 year-old female. In August 2001, she moved to Toronto from Vancouver. In August 2001, the victim was on her way home when she became lost in the area of Dufferin Street and Queen Street. At this time, the Accused was in the same area and the victim asked the Accused for directions. The Accused did provide the victim with directions. The Accused then asked the victim for her home telephone number. The victim supplied the Accused with her home telephone number, and the two maintained contact through telephone. After a short period of time, the Accused asked the victim to go out on a date in order to build their friendship. Mutually, they dated approximately 5 times. To this date, the two had never been involved in a romantic relationship. In March 2002, the victim became involved in a relationship with her current boyfriend (witness). At this time, the victim moved from her previous address and changed her phone number. However, she continued to live in the surrounding area. In July 2002, while the victim's boyfriend was away on holidays, she contacted the Accused via telephone and once met him in person. During this contact, the Accused pressured the victim to pursue a physical relationship. The victim advised the Accused that she was involved in an intimate relationship with someone else, and had to refuse his request. As a result, the Accused had several arguments. The victim became frustrated of the Accused's ongoing pressure and told the Accused that she no longer wishes to maintain any contact with him. The victim made it very clear to the Accused that he was not to call her or make any attempts to see her in person. On the 3rd of August 2002, the victim was riding her bicycle in the area of Dufferin and King Street when the Accused approached her from behind by surprise. Once again, the victim told the Accused that she did not want to talk with him. The Accused then began to propose to the victim to marry him. The victim then attempted to get away from the Accused and left the area. The Accused once again followed the victim to her boyfriend's house. On the 19th of August 2002 at approximately 7:00 p.m., the victim was riding her bicycle to her boyfriend's house and was in the area of Dufferin Street and Queen Street. At this time, the Accused observed the victim. The victim quickly rode away and felt she had lost the Accused. Once the victim was inside her boyfriend's house, she observed the Accused in the backyard, looking in over the backdoor. The Accused, upon noticing the victim's boyfriend in the backyard, fled the area. On the 20th of August 2002, the incident was reported to the police and the Accused was arrested, and charged accordingly. The Accused was released on a Form 10 and a Form 11.1 with conditions. |
