Chad's Case — Assault (domestic) — Police Report

Accused:  Vance, Chad's boyfriend
Charges:  Assault and Assault Bodily Harm

Police Report:  The victim, Chad J., and the Accused, Vance D., are involved in a homosexual relationship and have been so involved for the past 4 1/2 years.

On Saturday, the 30th of January 2000, the victim and the Accused were at a bar located in the area of Church Street and Wellesley Street in the City of Toronto. Both the victim and the Accused had been drinking and celebrating the victim's birthday.

The victim and the Accused left the bar and were walking towards the Accused's vehicle. They became engaged in a verbal argument, at which point the Accused demanded the victim to give the Accused his car keys. The victim refused. A pushing match ensued between the victim and the Accused.

The Accused then punched the victim in the face. The victim fell to the ground and continued to be punched by the Accused.

Passersby came over to the victim and the Accused. The victim managed to give the Accused his car keys and the Accused left the scene. The victim was transported to Wellesley Hospital by two citizens.

Police attended at the hospital and obtained a signed statement from the victim and submitted a report.

On Monday, the 31st of January 2000, the Accused was arrested and investigated. The Accused was charged accordingly.

Injuries to victim:  broken nose
