Bruce's Case — Dangerous Driving — Police Report

Police Report:   On 28 December 2001, police responded to the Markville Mall regarding a dispute occurring in the parking lot. Officers arrive and spoke with the victim, who stated that, as he pulled into a parking spot and exited his vehicle, a male party, the accused, was in the parking space beside him and he also exited his vehicle. The accused swore at the victim, stating "How is my wife to get out of the vehicle?" The victim then stated that the accused motioned as if to strike him but held back as his wife was asking him not to.

The accused then returned to his vehicle and turned the wheels towards the victim and accelerated aggressively in his direction, almost striking him. The accused drove down the parking lot and pulled into another parking space. He returned to the victim's vehicle and apologized. The victim did not accept the apology.

At this time, a witness approached the victim stating that he saw the whole thing and called police.

At 1630 hrs, police arrested the accused upon return to his vehicle. He was taken into custody and read his rights to counsel to which he stated he understood. The accused was transported to 5 District pending a show cause hearing on 29 December 2001 as he resides out of the province.
