Brian's Case — Criminal Harassment — Police ReportClient: Brian
H., Accused Police Report: The victim advised police that her and the accused met back in August of 2002. At that time, they were on a friendship basis only, and the accused lived across the street from the victim (victim's address of 126 D*** Avenue). In October 2002, the victim and the accused became involved in a relationship. The victim noticed signs of depression in the accused. She learned that the accused was on a one-year leave from the Medical school, for reasons she was unaware of. During this one year off, the accused was to receive a psychiatric evaluation to be permitted back into the Medical program. In November 2002, the accused moved some of his items into the basement of the victim's house, and shortly after, the accused moved into the spare bedroom in the victim's house. The accused began to sleep much of the day, wondered if Medical school was the right thing for him, and had made comments saying that his life was not worth living. The accused stated to the victim that he would kill himself in a way that would look like an accident. The victim had enough of the accused's behaviour, and in December 2002, sent him on a flight to Calgary, where he is from, to visit friends and family, and to hopefully put his life on track. Just before leaving for Calgary, the accused received his medical clearance to return to school. Their relationship ended at that time. When the accused returned back to Kingston, at around the end of January, he began making phone calls to the victim's house. He would ask her to go out, if they could be friends, and things of that nature. The accused made additional phone calls, using the caller ID block on the phone. The victim informed the accused numerous times that she did not want anything to do with him, and that she wanted him to leave her alone. Between the dates of February 10, 2003, and February 14, 2003, the accused sent MSN Messenger messages to the victim, still wanting to go out and to do things together, the accused sent her messages calling her names like b----, whore and slut, and finally ending in a message stating that the accused still wanted to screw the victim. The victim's pleas for the accused to stop harassing her have continued. The victim fears for her safety, as she is aware of the mental condition of the accused, and is unsure of how much the situation may escalate. |
