Aldo's Case — Assault & Threat (Domestic) — Police Report

Client:  Aldo N., Accused
Complainant:  Mary N., wife
Charges:  Assault (2x) and Threaten Death

Police Report:  On Friday March 28th, at 8:20 a.m., the victim and the accused were together at home with their two children at 1754 Footside Street in the City of Toronto.

The accused was getting ready for work when the victim enquired about a work function he had attended the night before without her.

The accused told her to stop asking questions about his work.

The victim suspected her husband was having an affair with a co-worker, and continued to press him for information and said she would show up at his work. The accused then slapped her across the face with an open hand.

The victim then took a letter belonging to the accused and ripped it up, resulting in the accused slapping her across the face a second time. (Charge #1)

The victim tried to call the police but the accused unplugged the phone and grabbed the victim by the shoulders, and shook her and threw her on the couch. He then got on top of her and put his hands around her throat in an attempt to choke her, while saying don't show up at my work and don't put me in jail.

The victim was uncertain as to what occurred next, however she ended up on the floor in the nearby kitchen with the accused on top of her. At this point the accused had the victim pinned down with his knees on her upper arms. This caused three bruises to her upper left arm. (Charge #2)

The accused yelled at the victim "You have ruined my life. I might as well kill you and then kill myself." (Charge #3)

The accused got off the victim when their 5 year old daughter told them that she was leaving to get security. (She did not leave the apartment.)

The accused continued dressing and left for work, stating he would not be coming home.

The victim contacted the police later in the day. The police attended and took a signed statement from the victim and photographed visible bruising to her left arm where she was pinned down.

The victim was so scared she left with family members until the accused was arrested.

The police contacted the accused, who then turned himself in to the police.

The accused was charged accordingly and held for a show cause hearing.

CAS was notified by police.
